Jesse Owen (Mike) Reese passed away Wednesday October 18, 2006 in Duke Medical Center after a brief illness. Mike ws born in Foster Falls, Virginia on January 11, 1917 to the late L.J. and Pricey Surratt Reese. He moved to Fries at an early age where he grew up. Mike's lifelong wife and loved companion Lena Katherine Mallory Reese preceded him in death in April, 2003. He is survived by two sons Michael Owen Reese of Durham, North Carolina and Eric Gordon Reese of Abingdon, Virginia; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at the First United Methodist Church on Saturday October 21, 2006 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Glenn Gunter and Rev. Walt Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Grayson Nursing & Rehab Center, Independence, Virginia.
