Jerry Lee Vaughan age 73 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at her home. Mrs. Vaughan was born in Fries, Va. on February 13, 1936 to Alfred & Jean Carter McMillan. She is survived by her husband Ralph "Boomy" Vaughan of Galax,Va.; daughter & son-in-law Lee & William Hunter of Tazewell, Va.; son & daughter-in-law Mark & Susie Vaughan of Knoxville, Tn.; sister Christine McMillan of Fries, Va.; grandchildren Polly, Tori, Will, Tayloe and Campbell Hunter; Jack & Matthew Vaughan. Jerry was a RN and so proud to be a part of the nursing profession. She retired from Martin-Marietta Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 17, 2009 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Walt Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in the Fries Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from one until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Galax First United Methodist Church.
