Jerry Dale Harmon age 63 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2012 at his home.

Jerry was born on April 12, 1948 in Carroll County, Virginia to William and Eva Myers Harmon. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his special in-laws Ralph and Alberta Anders Edwards and a special niece Jenny Lundy.

He is survived by his wife Lois Edwards Harmon of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Jeffrey Douglas and Maxima Harmon of Orlando, Florida; Jamey Brian and Hollie Harmon of Fredericksburg, Virginia; grandchildren Kaela Harmon, Ilana Harmon, Lainey Harmon, Hayden Harmon and Ellie Rose Harmon; sister and brother-in-law Willadean and Rodger Jennings of Woodlawn, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Jimmy and Mary Harmon of Galax, Virginia; sisters-in-law and spouses Glenna Joy Harmon, Joyce and Bobby Sykes, Shelvy and Roger Edwards, Judy and Don Lundy all of Galax, Virginia; Betty Jo and Harold McCraw of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; brother-in-law and spouse Willard and Nancy Edwards of Elk Creek, Virginia; fifteen nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Oakland United Methodist Church with Rev. Sharon Wright, Rev. Richard Gregory, Pastor Leo Phillips and Gary Boyette officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Oakland United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either Mountain Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
