Jerry Dowell age 63 of Galax, Virginia - loving husband, father and paw paw passed away on April 6th, 2024 after a wonderful, full day spent and surrounded by his loved ones.

Jerry was born on March 8th, 1961 to Claude and Annie Dowell. He is survived by his wife Trish Dowell, son and daughter in-law James and Melanie Dowell and two grandchildren Jacob Dowell and William Gravely.

Jerry loved being outdoors whether he was hunting, trapping, fishing or working with his band saw sawmill cutting lumber. He always was building something or working in the garden, you wouldn't find him in the house until dusk. Then it was westerns and Andy Griffith until bed time.

Jerry was a simple man, devoted son, husband, father and grandfather, he loved his family so very much. His bond with his wife Trish was one of the strongest to ever witness, a match truly made by God.

He never meet a stranger, he was always kind, ready and willing to help and tried to make the world a little warmer. He will be so very missed by his loved ones and all that knew him.

‭‭The funeral service will be held Saturday April 13 at 2PM in First Baptist Church in Galax. Allen Graham, Matt Linkous, and Johnny Johnson will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the service in Hines Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1PM until the time of the service on Saturday.
