Jerel Dean Jones, 65, of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 in Waddell Nursing And Rehab Center, Galax. Jerel was born November 14, 1948 in Galax to the late Glenn William Jones, Sr. and Alma Lineberry Jones. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Linda Mae Lineberry Jones.

Jerel proudly served his country with the US Army during the Vietnam era.

Jerel is survived by his fiancée Mae Poe of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Karen and Terry Semones of Galax; brother and sister-in-law Glenn, Jr. and Bobbie Jones also of Galax; niece and husband Tamara and Jamie Young; great niece Maya Young. Also surviving special caregiver Darlene Johnson; special friends Maynard Bartley and Norris Padgett and lots of friends.

The funeral service will be held Thursday November 13, 2014 at 11:00 AM in the River Hill Christian Church with Leo Phillips and Billy Burnette officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 12, 2014 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.

Military rites will be conducted by Hillsville VFW Post #1115.
