Jay Gwynn, age 84, of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday August 6, 2023 in Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Gwynn was born on April 14, 1939 in Carroll County, Virginia to General Jackson and Sarah McMillian Gwynn. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Terri Gwynn, sons Ricky Gwynn and Randy Gwynn, sisters Mary Haynes, Earnestine Boyd, Martha McMillian, Virginia Allen, Elsie Gwynn, and brother Josah Gwynn.

He is survived by his step-daughter Marie Hawks of Cana, Virignia; brother and sister-in-law Jonah and Alma Gwynn of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

There will be no services held for Mr. Gwynn at this time.
