Janie M Hamby, 77, of Independence, Virginia passed away Sunday October 16, 2016 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mrs. Hamby was born April 27, 1939 in Independence, Virginia to the late Aubrey Guynn Morton and Ruby Adeline Wagoner Morton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband John Locke Hamby, Sr. and daughter Janie Hamby.

She is survived by daughter and son-in-law: Janet and Harold Williams of Galax Virginia; sons and daughter-in-law: Jerry & Sonya Hamby of Elkins, West Virginia and John Hamby Jr of Independence; sisters and brothers-in-law Dorothy & Hank Calisti of Maryland, Melton Hamby of Galax; brother James Morton of Maryland; nine grandchildren- Amber Hamby, Darlene Love, Rachel Hamby , Rusty Williams, Dalton Williams, Austin Williams, Josh Hamby, Chris Hamby, Jesse Hamby; one step grandchild; seven great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews and special cousins Nancy and Loraine also survive.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, October 19, 2016 from 12:30 PM until 1:30 PM at Vaughan Guynn. A graveside service and burial will be held at 2:00 PM in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery with Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating.
