Janice Lee Wilson

Janice Lee Reeves Wilson, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2026, in Galax, Virginia, at the age of 84. Born in Roanoke, Virginia, on July 7, 1942, Janice was the beloved daughter of Emmit Reeves and Virginia Burnett Reeves. Her early years set the foundation for a life defined by steadfast dedication to her family, community, and faith.

Janice made her home in Galax, where she spent decades in service to her community. For 27 years, she faithfully worked as Assistant Manager in the Galax Elementary School cafeteria. In that role, Janice touched the lives of countless students and staff members with her kindness, diligence, and unwavering commitment. Her warm smile and nurturing spirit transformed daily routines into moments of comfort for those around her.

A woman guided by faith, Janice was a proud member of West Galax United Methodist Church. Her church family benefited from her compassionate nature, steadfast support, and gentle wisdom, qualities that she generously shared throughout her life.

Janice's love and devotion extended first and foremost to her family. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Shawn and Kendra Wilson and Timmy and Sophia Wilson; her grandchildren, Matt Wilson and his fiancé Katy, Shana Wilson, April Wilson, and Heather Jones; and her great-grandchildren, Cayden Anderson, Korbin Wilson, Zedaya Wilson, and Kingston Jones. Her encouragement, guidance, and presence shaped the lives of each family member, strengthening the bonds that will endure long into the future.

Janice’s husband, J.R. Wilson, along with her parents, Emmit and Virginia Reeves, preceded her in death. Their memory was a constant source of strength and inspiration throughout her life.

Family and friends will gather to honor Janice’s life on July 22, 2026. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at the same location with Pastor Ricky Bedwell and Pastor Mary Hessler officiating. Janice will be laid to rest in Felts Memorial Cemetery after the funeral service.

Janice Lee Wilson leaves behind a legacy of service, faith, and deep familial love. She will be remembered always for her gentle spirit, tireless work, and the compassion she showed to all who had the privilege to know her.
