Janet Lee Gunter Dooley age 85 of Fries, Virginia passed away Monday May 2, 2022 in the New River Valley Medical Center.

Mrs. Dooley was born on April 5, 1937 in Grayson County, Virginia to Henry (Jay) Wise and Katherine Jennings Gunter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sydney Cook and step-son Lee Dooley

She is survived by her husband Melvin Dooley of Fries, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Tamara and Bill Kirby of Fries, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Justin and Nikki Cook of Fincastle, Virginia; step-daughter and husband Rebecca and Scott Jewell; step- son Matthew Dooley all of Charlottesville, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Randy Phillips of Fries, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Jim and Pam Gunter of Dublin, Virginia; step-daughter-in-law Gloria Dooley; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends Shelby Shaffner and Jerry Bedwell.

The funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00 PM in the Fries Baptist Church with the Junior Anderson and Larry Sawyers officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM  prior to the service at the church.
