Jane Lee Adams Edwards age 80 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Edwards was born in Galax, Virginia on November 15, 1935 to Fred and Bettie Mae Webb Adams. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roby Lincoln Edwards, Jr..

She is survived by her daughter Angela Jane Edwards of Galax, Virginia; son and daughter-in-law Stephen Roby and Carla Edwards of Blacksburg, Virginia; granddaughter Rachel Edwards; brothers and sisters-in-law Fred Adams, Jr. and Iona; John Adams and Debbie; Richard Adams and Penny all of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

Jane was a beloved French teacher at Galax High School for more than thirty years. She loved her church and gave freely for decades her enormous music talent as church pianist at First Baptist Church, Galax, VA. She was a compassionate advocate for those who were struggling with cancer, as a brave cancer survivor herself. She transformed her experience into an opportunity to comfort and reassure dozens of others also facing this frightening diagnosis. Starting at Hollins College, she was introduced to the game of bridge. This became a lifelong passion and hobby that she enjoyed tremendously. She was often described by those fortunate enough to know her as intelligent, sensitive, emotional, loving, fashionable, elegant, glamorous, and compassionate. She had a rare gift of making everyone she encountered feel they were the most special person of all to her. She most loved her role as wife and mother. She treasured her family and selflessly devoted much of her life to them. She was an extraordinary woman who lived a life that mattered.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM in the First Baptist Church with the Pastor Sam Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the First Baptist Church.
