James Emmett Vaughan, Sr. age 88 of Fries, Virginia passed away Monday, August 21, 2006 at Skyline Manor Nursing Home in Floyd, Va.. He was born on Friday, Sunday, May 26, 1918 in Wythe County, va. to the late Robert Lee and Dorothy Grubb Vaughan. He is survived by his wife Dette Jefferson Vaughan of Fries, Va.; daughter & son-in-law, Dorothy & Bill Sumner of Floyd, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, James Emmett Vaughan, Jr. & Diana of South Boston, Va.; Earl Buford Vaughan & Andi of Washington state and Harrison Lee Vaughan of Christiansburg, Va.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alice Alley of Galax, Va.; Ruth Sage & Jack of Pulaski, Va.; Gladys Rine & Tony of Louisiana; Mary Kay Vaughan & Ralph of Fries, Va.; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Olin Vaughan & Eva of Detroit, Michigan; George B. Vaughan & Peggy of Charlottesville, Va.; Ralph B. & Jerri Vaughan of Galax, Va.; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 24th at 11:00 AM in Fries United Methodist Church with Rev. Lee Thomas and Rev. Charles Bolling officiating. Burial will follow in Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from seven until nine at Fries United Methodist Church.
