James Billy Roberts age 75 of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at his home.

Mr. Roberts was born on July 20, 1937 in Grayson County, Virginia to James and Ethel Vaughan Roberts.

Mr. Roberts proudly served his country in the US Army.

He is survived by his wife Louise Roberts of Galax, Virginia; daughters and sons-in-law Carol and Leon Newmar of Montana; Dawn and David Brandon of California; sons Ricky Roberts of Galax, Virginia; Richard Roberts and Danny Roberts both of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; step-children Sherry Vaughan, Valinda Hawks, Jo Denton, Wayne Denton, Tony Denton and Lee Denton all of Galax, Virginia; Lynn Denton of Fancy Gap, Virginia; Michelle Coffin of Hillsville, Virginia; Bill Denton of Clemmons, North Carolina; sister Marietta Huff of Galax, Virginia; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; twenty-two step grandchildren; several step great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Military Rites by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends Friday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
