James (Jay) Randolph Alderman, age 46, of Galax, Virginia, passed away Saturday June 7, 2025 in Forsyth Medical Center.

Jay was born on July 8, 1978 in Galax, Virginia to Ernest Randolph and Diana Carol Thomas Alderman.

He is survived by his wife Shannon Ayers Alderman; daughters Sydney Alderman and Addie Alderman, all of Galax, Virginia; mother and step-father Diana and Ralph Price of Marion, Virginia; father Randy Alderman of Galax, Virginia; sister and brother-in-law Martha and Brad Cole of Galax, Virginia; mother-in-law and father-in-law Tammy and Ken Cummings of Galax, Virginia; sister-in-law and husband Lindsey and Jason Gertin; brother-in-law Shane Cummings; niece Madison Gertin; nephew Caleb Gertin; and a host of special people.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM in First Baptist Church with Pastor Jackie Poe officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 12:00 PM until time for the funeral service at First Baptist Church.
