James Brice Parks, Sr. age 78 of Galax, Va. passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Parks was born on July 25, 1929 in Galax, Va. to James Rhuben & Virginia Barton Parks. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Betty Hennis Parks; sons & daughters-in-law James Brice Parks, Jr. & Katrina Bolt Parks; Edgar Gray & Sena Choate Parks all of Galax, Va.. Also surviving are his true joy his five grandchildren Chas Parks; Hayley Parks, Madison Parks, Christian Parks and Carly Parks all of Galax, Va.. Brice also leaves behind his brother-in-law and friend Harvey Hennis, and sister-in-law Judy Hennis; niece Ann Smith and nephew Chris Hennis and their families. Brice was a graduate of Galax High School Class of 1946 where he played football for Maroon Tide #77 and served as Beta Club President; a charter member and former president of Y's Mens Club; worked for years on Community Christmas Chest; a member of the First United Methodist Church; former Chairman of Board, Fiance Committee Chairman; employed with WBOB and WBRF with 60 years service as sales manager. Brice was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and a Christian example to many who will miss and love him dearly. The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 13, 2008 at 2:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Walt Simmerman officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from seven until nine at the First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church Health & Welfare.
