James Andrew Newman age 81 of Ivanhoe, Virginia passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2020 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Mr. Newman was born in Carroll County, Virginia on March 2,1939 to Boyd and Ocie Burchett Newman. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters Martha Myers and Iris Dodson.

He is survived by his daughter Tina Newman of Fries, Virginia; sons James Hodges of Ivanhoe, Virginia; Jeff Newman of Fries Virginia; sister Peggy of Roanoke, Virginia;  adoptive son Mitch Sylvester; step-son Christopher Kelly; four grandchildren Korie Hodges of Christiansburg, Virginia; Devin Newman; Amber Todd both of Galax, Virginia; Kelsy Burchett of Fries, Virginia; five great-grandchildren;  ex-wife Olivia Kelly.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Monta Vista Cemetery. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
