James French Leagans, 89, passed away Friday, October 11, 2013 at Golden Living Nursing Home. Mr. Leagans was born March 12, 1924 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Steve Leagan and Maggie Patton Leagan.

Mr. Leagans proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Kimberly & George Dowell of Baltimore, Maryland; granddaughter Maggie Dowell; sisters Lura Bartlett of Galax, Virginia and Mary Bonn of Baltimore, Maryland. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Bob Adams officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the Cranberry Section, Woodlawn, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock at the funeral home. Military rites will be conducted by the Grover King VFW Post 1115.
