James Julius "Duckie" Johnson age 65 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday, July 17, 2008 in Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Johnson was born on February 17,1943 in Hurley, Virginia to Garland & Lou Cooper Johnson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Frances Blankenship; brothers Ray & Eulius Johnson and Charlie Mitchell. He is survived by his wife of 42 years Lorine Johnson of Galax, Va.; daughters & sons-in-law Corine Johnson; Patricia & Josh Vaughan of Galax, Va.; Pamela & Venton Smith of Woodlawn, Va.; sisters Florine Stacy; Judy Wolford; Rosemary Lester all of Paynesville, West Va.; Elsie Matney of Panther, West Va.; Betty Blankenship of Galax, Va.; brothers Jessie Mitchell; Ersel Blankenship, Jr.; Everett Blankenship & John Blankenship all of Paynesville, West Va.; two grandchildren; step-father & step-mother Ersel & Florence Blankenship of Grundy, Va.; sister-in-law Corine Goad of Galax, Va; brothers-in-law Hershel & Russell Blankenship of Galax, Va.; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday, July 20, 2008 at 2:00 pm in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Mose Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from six until eight at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
