James Russ Weatherman, better known as J. R. Weatherman, 76, passed away Saturday December 1, 2012 at Twin County Regional Hospital Galax, VA. He was born Sunday, May 3, 1936 in Galax, Virginia to Paul Reed Weatherman and Ellen Lucille Patton Weatherman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Tammy Lynn Weatherman, brother J. C. Weatherman and sister Mary Alice Testerman.

He is survived by two sons Paul Jackson "Jackie" Weatherman of Ennice, North Carolina and James Anthony "Tony" Weatherman of Martinsville, Virginia; brother Virgil Weatherman and wife Lucille of Galax, Virginia; five grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Monday, December 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Ballard Cemetery, Fries Road, Galax, Virginia with Rev. Sam Holder offciating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening December 2, 2012 from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
