James Walter Hess age 82 of Galax, Va. passed away Thursday, March 22, 2007 in the VA Medical Center. Mr. Hess was born on April 25, 1924 in McDowell County, West Virginia to the late Elbert Walter & Dora Pearl Cain Hess. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Deanna Lynn Harris. He is survived by his wife Vivian Hess of Galax, Va.; son & daughter-in-law Dan & Bee Hess of Greer, S.C.; sisters Lorene Hutchens of Martinsville, Va. and Marie Richardson of Mt. Airy, N.C.; four granddaughters; three grandsons; two great-granddaughters and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 12:00 O'Clock Noon in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Terry Vaughan officicating. Burial will follow in the Hylton Cemetery with Military Rites By Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Saturday from elevn until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
