James Harold "Jimmy" Montgomery age 86 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday December 29, 2024 in the High Point Regional Hospital.

Mr. Montgomery was born on May 3, 1938 in Sparta, North Carolina to John B. and Lucy Maines Montgomery. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Jean Tolbert; brothers Dean, Bob, Ralph and Roy Montgomery; step-son Randy Bedsaul and mother of the children Lucille Montgomery.

He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law Edward (Bunky) and Keisha Montgomery of Tampa, Florida; Montie and Lisa Montgomery of Elkin, North Carolina; three grandchildren Trevor Montgomery (Kaylee); Kelan Montgomery; Kasen Montgomery; one great-grandchild Maycie Montgomery; step-grandson Jett Bedsaul; sister Myrtle Clodfelter of High Point, North Carolina; brother Billy C. Montgomery of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:30 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Pastor David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Galyean Cemetery with Military Rites by the Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:30 PM until time for the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.

The family invites friends to come by the Baywood Rescue Squad building after the graveside service for fellowship.
