James Charles Handy age 66 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Friday, November 14,2008 at the VA
Medical Center in Salem, Va.. James was born on June 27, 1942 in Raleigh, North Carolina to James Battle & Helen Elizabeth Foster Handy. He is survived by his daughter Dr. Christine Carol Handy & Donnye Collins of Boyds, Maryland; son & daughter-in-law Christopher Charles & Leslie Denise Handy of Galax, Va.; sister Diane Foster-Murray of Philadelphia, Pa.; brothers Walter Handy of Washington, DC; Paul Handy of Detroit, Michigan; Lewis Handy of Philadelphia, Pa.; Leroy Handy of Detroit, Michigan; Eddie Clark of Philadelphia, Pa.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Thursday, November 20, 2008 at 1:00 PM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel. Burial will follow in the Bethany Cemetery with Military Rites by Hillsville VFW Post 1115. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 pm Thursday before the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
