James Bruce Galyen, Sr. age 92 of Galax, Va. passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 in Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Galyen was born in Gray, North Carolina on June 12, 1915 to the late Carl Cleveland & Fern Woody Galyen. He is survived by his wife Helen Brown Galyen of Galax, Va.; daughter & son-in-law Jan Galyen Lingner & Roy Lingner of Woodstock, Ga.; son & daughter-in-law James Bruce Galyen, Jr. & Janet Galyen of Knoxville, Tenn; two grandchildren four great-grandchildren ; sister Ilene McKnight of Galax, Va.; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Friday, November 9, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Walt Simmerman and Rev. Tom Ballard officiating. Masonic Rites will be conducted by Galax Oldtown Lodge #68. Burial will be on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 11:00 am in Felts Memorial Cemetery with Military Rites by Grayson VFW Post 7726. The family will receive friends Friday evening from five until seven at First United Methodist Church.In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Shriners Children's Hospital in Greenville, S.C.; Twin County Hospice; First United Methodist Church or the charity of the donors choice.
