James Fred (Buck) Davis age 78 of Fries, Va. passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 in Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mr. Davis was born in Wythe County, Va. on September 12, 1930 to Joe Davis, Sr. and Ruth Bourne Davis. In addition to his parents Buck was preceded in death by his wife Betty Davis; sister Gladys Hamm and brother Joe Bob Davis.

He is survived by his daughter & son-in-law Monica & Bill Moore of Fries, Va.; two grandchildren Natasha Moore and Garrett Moore both of Fries, Va.; brothers & sisters-in-law Olin "Lefty" & Alveta Davis of Roanoke, Va.; Raymond E. & Joyce Davis of Fries, Va.; sister-in-law Elsie Davis of Galax, Va.; brother-in-law James S. Hamm of Fries, Va.; sisters-in-law & husband Lois Jennings; Barbara & David Harmon; brothers-in-law & spouses Maurice & Patsy Wright; Bud & Frances Wright; several nieces & nephews; special friend of the family Harry Boyles.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 3:00 pm in the Fries Cemetery with Rev. Bill Linkous officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 pm at the Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church. Military Rites will be conducted at the gravesite by Grayson VFW Post 7726. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Fries Pentecostal Holiness Church or to the Fries Fire Department.
