James (Jimmy) Eugene Akers  age 77 of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday, April 5, 2019 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Akers was born in Grayson County, Virginia on May 10, 1941 to James Paris and Donna Mae Williams Akers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son James Derek Akers and a sister Shirley Akers Shupe.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Patton Akers; daughters and sons-in-law Gina and Steve Burris; Mitzi and Randy Shinault all of Fries, Virginia; grandchildren and spouse Kala Burris; Shane and Hannah Burris; Kendra Shinault; Taylor Shinault; Erin Shinault; great-grandson Adolin Burris; brother and sister-in-law Terry and Gloria Akers of Fries, Virginia; brother-in-law Harris Shupe of Fries, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; special friend Howard Meadows.

The funeral service will be held Sunday at 2:00 PM in the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Greg Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Liberty Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Liberty Hill United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, North Carolina 27017.
