James Emmett Blevins age 79 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, July 4, 2016 in the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina.

Mr. Blevins was born in Grayson County, Virginia on March 25, 1937 to Coy and Lillie Smith Blevins.

Mr. Blevins proudly served his country in the US Air Force.

He is survived by his wife Mary Dalton Blevins of Galax, Virginia; daughter and special friend Kimberly Blevins and Greg Lowry of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; sons and daughters-in-law Jimmy and Mary Blevins of Galax, Virginia; Kenneth and Laurie Blevins of Mt. Airy, North Carolina; Michael Blevins and fiance' Jessi Herrin of Washington, sisters and brother-in-law Linda and Pete Hawks; Jo Ann Monk all of Galax, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Larry and Diane Reeves of Pinnacle, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 12:00 Noon in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Pete Hawks officiating. Burial will follow in the Crab Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 AM until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
