James Edward (Eddie) Russell age 64 of Galax, Virginia passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2014 in the North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Eddie was born in Galax, Virginia on September 3, 1949 to James and Frances Sells Russell.

In addition to his mother Frances Russell of Galax, Virginia he is survived by his wife Carolyn Carter Russell of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Kimberly Michelle and Jimmy Roberts of Galax, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law James Edward and Jessica Moore Russell, Jr. of Roanoke, Virginia; Timothy Ray and Melissa Bowers Russell of Fancy Gap, Virginia; six grandchildren Tyler Matthew McGrady, Taylor Jordan (T.J.) McGrady, James Carter Russell, Luke Edward Russell, Cameron Leighan Russell and Leah Addison Russell, sister and brother-in-law Mary Jane and Kenny Girffin, brother Freddie Russell all of Galax, Virginia; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, June 22, 2014 at 4:00 PM in the First Christian Church with the Rev. Randy Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Gladeville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the First Christian Church. Military Rites will be conducted by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.
