James David Dryden, Sr. age 81 of Swainsboro, Ga. and formerly of Galax, Va. passed away Monday, August 27, 2007 at Heritage Healthcare in Swainsboro. Mr. Dryden was born in Florida on April 17, 1926 to Rev. James F. & Mary Elizabeth Phillips Dryden.In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wives Mary Pulliam Dryden and Annie Creed Dryden, son Raymond Dryden and four brothers Quinton, Burton, Bennie & Johnny Dryden and two sisters Ola Phillips & Lola Mae Sandefur. He is survived by his sons & daughters-in-law James David Dryden, Jr. & Judy; Gene Dryden & Linda all of West Palm Beach, Florida; Richard Dryden & Brenda of St. Augustine, Florida; daughter Dalene Sanders of Gulf Port, Ms.; sister Arminta "Mit" Raines of Lee, Florida; brother & sister-in-law Louie Dryden & Frances of Swainsboro, Ga.; fifteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 11:00 am in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Sam Holder and Robert Lundy officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from seven until nine at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
