James "Jim" Douglas Underwood Sr. age 74, of Fries, Virginia passed away Thursday November 18, 2021 in Northern Surry Regional Hospital.

James was born on April 9, 1947 in Fries, Virginia to the late Arthur G. and Frances Funk Underwood Sr.

He is survived by his wife Dreama Lundy Underwood of Fries, Virginia; daughter Jennifer McMickle of Fries, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Jimmie and Tracy Underwood of Fries, Virginia and Josh and Nikki Underwood of Galax, Virginia; sister Carolyn Underwood of Fries, Virginia; brothers Jerry Underwood of Fries, Virginia and Donald Underwood of Hillsville, Virginia; brother and sister-in-law Alan and Emma Underwood of Fries, Virginia; nine grandchildren Shelley, James, Jacey, Katy, Eli, Cara, Cayden, Lexi, and Ryker; two great-grandchildren Evelyn and Kace. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his parents; sister and brother-in-law Susie & Harrison Shupe; and son-in-law Brad McMickle.

The graveside service will be held Monday November 22, 2021 at 4:00PM in the Liberty Hill Cemetery with Pastor Rick Clark and Pastor Greg Burnett officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time of the service at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
