James Payton Davis' Obituary
James Payton Davis age 85 of Independence, Virginia passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at his home.
Mr. Davis was born in Wythe County, Virginia on May 23, 1932 to Burley and Ethel Kieth Davis. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Leonard Davis; son Ronnie Davis and grandson Ronnie James Davis.
He proudly served his country in the US Air Force.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Robert Davis of Dublin, Virginia; sons and daughters-in-law Tommy and Becky Davis of Woodlawn, Virginia; Barry and Teresa Davis of Dugspur, Virginia; Timmy Davis of Galax, Virginia; sister Sue Lineberry of Galax, Virginia; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Bailey officiating. Burial will follow in the McKenzie Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from six until eight at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. Military Rites will be conducted by the Hillsville VFW Post 1115.
