James Roy Dalton age 87 passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the Jennings Health Care Center in North Vernon.
Services were held at the Sawyer-Pickett Funeral Home on Sunday, May 3,2009 at 2:30 PM. Burial and Masonic Rites will be held at Felts Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends Thursday from 11:30 until 12:30 at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
Mr. Dalton was born November 7, 1921 in Hillsville, Va. to Obie Sexton and Mayetta Wilcox Dalton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Vanalene Edwards Dalton.
Mr. Dalton was an electrical engineering graduate of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. He was employed by Tennessee Valley Authority for 36 years. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He was a life member of the Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, Kerbela Shrine Temple and the VFW. He served in WWII as a First Lt. in the 14th Air Force.
He is survived by his two daughters Jane Allain (Martin) and Sharon Miller (Bernie) of North Vernon; five grandchildren Shannon Hulse of Owensboro, Jy.; James Allain of Baltimore, Md.; Martin Allain, Virginia Brown and Julia Quigley all of Indianapolis, and seven great-grandchildren.
