James Andrew Carico age 94 of Fries, Virginia passed away Friday, September 11, 2015 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.
Mr. Carico was born in Grayson County, Virginia on August 1, 1921 to Claude Andrew and Grace Troy Carico. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Colby Andrew Carico, sister Mary Troy Wilson and two nephews Andrew Nelson Berry and Gary Richard Vaughan.
He was a US Navy Veteran of World War II. He served on the Grayson County Board of Supervisors for the Providence District for several years.
Surviving are his sisters and brothers-in-law Eva Louise Vaughan of Michigan; Helen C. Morton and Robert M. Morton, Jr. of Galax, Virginia; Laura Bell Berry and Dr. Joseph Nelson Berry of Hillsville, Virginia; nieces Carla Vaughan; Linda Morton; Rosemary Morton; Susan Berry; nephews Edward Alan Vaughan & wife, Maureen; Donald Alan Berry; Jeffrey Troy Berry & wife, Reanna; several great-nieces and great-nephews; special friends Tony and Crystal Funk.
The funeral service will be held Monday, September 14, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with the Rev. Bill Shupe officiating.
Burial will follow in the Providence Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12 noon until time for the funeral service at the Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Providence Cemetery Association, 41 Beagle Lane, Fries, Virginia 24330.
