James Junior Byrd, age 76, of Fries, VA died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax.
Mr. Byrd was born March 20,1933 in Grayson County to James Jordan and Virginia Caroline Bonham Byrd.
He is survived by his wife, Betty J. Byrd of Fries, daughter, Patricia Hill Byrd, Fries, sons & daughters-in-law, Roger Dale and Nancy Diane Byrd, Fries, Timmy & Rhonda Byrd, Fries, sister & brother-in-law, Katie & Bobby Henderson, Lynhurst, VA, brother & sister-in-law, Bobby Gene & Phoebe Byrd, Fries, five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, 2:00 PM, at the Adkins Memorial United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held Dec. 6, 2009 (Sunday) at the church. Officiating ministers will be the Rev. Charles Smythers and the Rev. Bill Shupe.
