James Edmond Burnette, 81, of Woodlawn, passed away Friday, August 6 at the Waddell Nursing Home, Galax, VA. Mr. Burnette was born April 11, 1929 in Carroll County, Virginia to Delbert Rufus & Louie Mandy Lawson Burnette. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Wilma Lee Padgett Burnette.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: Audrey & Joe Newman of Woodlawn; Rufus & Linda Burnette, Ann Carol & Billy Burnette all of Galax; Shirley & Gary Felts of Austinville; sisters & brother-in-law: Ilene Lineberry, Kathlene & Jalene Quesenberry all of Woodlawn, VA, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Sunday, August 8, 2010 at 4:00 PM at the Coulson Church of the Brethren with Pastor Russell Payne and Billy Burnette officiating. Burial will be in the Joe Bryant Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until service time at the church.
