James Kermit Ayers age 87 of Galax, Virginia passed away Friday, October 26,2018 at his home.

Mr. Ayers was born in Grayson County, Virginia on February 16, 1931 to George William Raymond and Flora Alice Hale Ayers.

He is survived by his wife Joann Ayers of Galax, Virginia; daughter and son-in-law Jackie and Steve Fayne of Clemmons, North Carolina; grandson Stevie Fayne and Melissa Bostic; great-grandchildren and spouses Lewis and Crystal Martin Paisley of Florida; Ashley Fayne  and Cara Fayne of Statesville, North Carolina; six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

He proudly served his country in the US Navy.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Mt. Pisgah Church of Christ with Marvin Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Leonard Memorial United

Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Mt. Pisgah Church of Christ. Flowers will be appreciated or donations may be made to the Leonards Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund.
