Obituary

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jama Leigh Dixon, beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and friend.

Jama was born April 8, 1962. She was preceded in death by her parents Junior and Alene Bowman.

Jama was married to her best friend, Billy Joe Dixon, for 47 years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and an unwavering love. She was the proud mother of Kimberly Dixon and Kelly Fox, and she dearly loved her son-in-law, Jeff Fox. She was a devoted nana to Katie Beth Webb, and her husband Caleb Webb, Aubrie Fox, and Hadley Parks, who brought her endless pride and happiness to her life.

Along with her husband, daughters, and granddaughters she is survived by her sister Jane Marshall, and her husband Alan Marshall. Also surviving are her brother and sisters-in-law Brenda Amburn, Jim and Michelle Dixon, Freddy and Shirley Dixon; many cherished and nephews, countless wonderful friends, and special lifelong friends the Alley Family.

There was nothing Jama loved more than her family. Whether it was a major milestone or the smallest detail of the day, she celebrated every moment of their lives with enthusiasm and joy. Her love was constant, generous and deeply felt by all who knew her.

Jama’s strong faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. She was a devoted member of her church family and worked hard to raise their daughters with the same faith at the center of their lives. The legacy of faith, kindness, and love she leaves behind will continue through the generations that follow.

Throughout Jama’s career with Mount Rogers, she found great purpose in helping individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. She served others with compassion, patience and a genuine desire to make their lives better. The countless people she supported were blessed by her kindness and dedication.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2026 family will be receiving friends and family to visit from 2-4 with a short service and time for sharing at 4 at Galax Country Club.
