Jacob H. Mink, age 86, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, a well-known area auto dealer for 55 years, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Twin County Regional Hospital in Galax.

Mr. Mink was born June 30, 1921 to Joe E. Mink and Jincie Wells Mink in Volney, Virginia.

He was a proud WWII Veteran and POW having served with the mighty 8th Air Force, 492nd Bomber Group.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Helen Shaw Mink; son & daughter in law, Jerry & Donna Mink of Galax; daughter & son-in-law: Joyce & Harry Downs of Pilot Mountain, NC; five precious granddaughters: Jill, Brooke, and Julie Setliff; Emily & Katy Mink and a special grandson: Britt H. Setliff; two sisters: Clover Hill of High Point, NC and Fairy Keith of Chesterfield, SC; a brother-in-law Clinton W. Shaw & wife Katherine of Roanoke, VA. Two brothers and three sisters predeceased him: Joe Mink, Jr. & Brady Mink; Kate Morris, Virginia Tucker, and Hazel Powers.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home. The funeral service will be held Monday in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel
at 2:00 PM with the Rev. Myron Dalton officiating. Interment will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery.
