Jackie Brian Martin of Galax, Va. passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 14th, 2023 at his home.

Jackie was born on October 10th, 1952 in Carroll County, Va. to Billy and Elizabeth Martin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Betty Martin, and two sisters, Mary Rakes and Vicke Dowling.

"Jack" as most would call him was a very hard worker, spending the majority of his life as a well known truck driver. He never met a stranger with his contagious sense of humor. Jack made people laugh when they wanted to cry, and made everyone feel like everything would be ok in any circumstance they may be facing. He was always the life of the party everywhere he went. Jack mostly enjoyed talking to people he knew and a lot he didn't know. He just had a special way about him that anyone could get to know him in a matter of seconds and remember him for a lifetime. This was just one of many traits he had and one that everyone loved about him.

Jack would give you the shirt off his back no matter how much it cost or how hard he had worked for it. He left a life-long legacy on how to not sweat the small stuff and would always say "you'll be alright".

The most important job Jackie did while here on earth was give his life to the LORD. This gives us so much peace knowing where he is today, in Heaven, laughing, joking, eating ice cream and drinking Pepsi with all of those gone before him.

He will be so sadly missed as a dad, paw-paw, father in law, brother, son and friend.

Jackie is survived by his daughter and son in law Jill and Sanford Lam of Galax, Va.

A graveside service will be held Saturday June 24th at 11:00 am at the Galyean Cemetery with Rev. Tony Vaughan officiating.
