This is a courtesy announcement on behalf of the J Wayne Vaughan family.

J. Wayne Vaughan went home to be with Jesus on September 24 ^th in Orlando, Florida at 65 years young. Survivors include his soulmate and best friend, Terry Vaughan; and his precious daughter and dearly loved son-in-law, Meagan and Cheyne Renner. He had recently learned that he was becoming a grandfather for the first time and could not wait to be "pawpaw" to the bundle of joy expected in March 2023.

As a previous business owner in Galax (for both Vaughan Shoe Store & Galax Realty Group), to know J. Wayne was to know passion in whatever he was doing. He had a big heart for people and in a matter of mere moments could make folks feel a level of love and appreciation that's hard to communicate over a timespan of years. His legacy will surely live on, as reflected in the scripture he held to: "…now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death" (Phil. 1:20B).

In true J. Wayne fashion, there will not be a traditional service held – instead, there will be a floating celebration of life reception on Sunday, October 16 ^th from 2p – 5p at the Galax Country Club on Country Club Lane. Come one, come all! Please bring a written memory that the family can read over time. This will be a time of laughter, celebration and joy knowing J. Wayne is walking the streets of gold. The family asks for you to keep his legacy going by giving generously, loving deeply and laughing often.
