J.C. Newman passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2024.  He was born on June 27, 1945 in Galax, Virginia.

A loving father and husband, he dedicated his life to his family and his work ethic.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Lottie Lawson Newman, his older brother William Jackson Newman, and his sister-in-law Linda Cox.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Newman, son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Katherine Newman, his brother and sister-in-law, Joe Bill and Christine Newman, his sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Mark Gillespie, his brother-in-law Harold Cox, and many nieces and nephews.

J.C. will be cremated and a memorial service will be held at August 2, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Ray Bolen officiating. There will be no graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mountain Valley Hospice in his honor.
