Iva Alfreda Jones Vaughan, 98 years old of Fries, passed away Thursday September 22, 2022 at the Grayson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born April 18, 1924 to Lonnie and Essie Byrd Jones. She was the oldest of 10 children.

She is survived by three children Benton and Sue Vaughn of Morganton, North Carolina; Calvin L. Vaughn of Fries, Virginia; Darlene Vaughan Martin of Hillsville, Virginia; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred and Marilyn Jones of Spring Valley; George and Joann Jones of Fries Virginia; sisters and brother-in-law Lena Mae and Russell Clontz of San Antonio, Texas; Betty Ann Stone of Mebane, North Carolina. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews; several cousins and many friends.

The funeral service will be held Monday at 2:00 PM in the Mount Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Linkous and Pastor Charles Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Mount Hope United Methodist Church.
