Iva Ruth Anthony Rutherford, age 87, Galax, VA, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at the Golden Living Nursing Home.

Mrs. Rutherford was born Sept. 22, 1928 in Carroll County to Edgar Grover Cleveland and Mammie Frost Anthony. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Dean Rutherford. She was followed in death by her daughter Eleanor Joann Hill.

She is survived by her sons Dwight Ashworth of North Wilkesboro, NC; R.C. Ashworth of Texas; sister & brother-in-law Faye Wood & Bobby of Trap Hill, NC; brother Gene Anthony of Ennice, NC; special friends Virgil & Janie Lowe of Galax, VA,; Mary & Herb Vanvleek of Galax, VA; Kathleen Comb of Galax, Virginia; grandchildren and spouses Carol Sizemore, Karen & Kendell Simpkins, Bobbie & Jose Mata, Jimmy & Sharon Sizemore, Tammy & Jeff Pickett, Randy & Amanda Ashworth, Rebecca & Collen Harris, Regina & Eric Williams, Renee Ashworth, ten great-grandchildren and sixteen great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Fairview Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Edwards and the Rev. Brian Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery, The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at the Fairview Baptist Church.
