Mildred Irene Burcham Spence age 80 of Fries, Virginia passed away Saturday, August 13, 2011 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Spence was born on October 31, 1930 to Dan and Della Willie Burcham. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James C. Spence; brothers Glen Burcham and Bill Burcham.

She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Janie & Steve Shaffner; Jeanie & Robbie Isom all of Fries, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law Jim & Sherry Spence of Galax, Va.; John & Barbara Spence of Fries, Va.; grandchildren and spouses Steven Quesenberry; Brittany & Brandon Haga; Brad & Candice Shaffner; Geoff Shaffner; Danielle Spence; Ariana Spence; Peyton Isom and Karyss Isom; sisters and brothers-in-law Ilene & Granville Mason of Fries, Va.; Carolyn & Wayne Elliott of Walkertown, N.C.; brothers and sister-in-law Tip & Pat Burcham of Chandler, N.C.; Bud Burcham of Galax, Va.; sisters-in-law and husband Imogene Spence; Ruby Burcham; Linda Burcham; Maxine and Spurgeon Fowler.

The funeral service will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the Cliffview Church of God with Pastor Ron Hill, Pastor Don Fox and Rev. Bill Shupe officiating. Burial will follow in the Fries Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from six until eight at the Cliffview Church of God.
