Irene Edwards Smith age 93 of Woodlawn, Virginia passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the Twin County Regional Hospital.
Mrs. Smith was born February 26, 1917 in Virginia to James H. and Joanna P. Ogle Edwards. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Marion Smith; grandson James Lee Stoneman; sisters A. Icly Edwards; Joanna P. Edwards and Evalene Gardner and a brother E. Orben Edwards.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Parthenia S. and Kenly G. Stoneman; son Donald M. Smith all of Woodlawn, Virginia; sisters Jewell E. Lineberry of Galax, Va.; Iva E. Jennings of Lynchburg, Va.; Earthel E. Coulson of Hillsville, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Sunday, January 2, 2011 at 3:00 PM in Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Rev. Gloria Lancaster Rhudy officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from one until service time at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
