Inez Goodson Hawks

Inez Goodson Hawks, age 100, of Galax, Virginia passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Hawks was born on November 14, 1925 in Carroll County, Virginia to Morgan Thomas and Minnie Galyean Goodson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Boyd Hawks; son Joe Boyd Hawks; brother Ivan Goodson; and sister Irene Winesett.

She was a member of Fairlawn Church of Christ in Galax, Virginia. She worked over 65 years as a hairdresser in Galax and at home.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gale and Pat Hawks of Burlington, North Carolina; sisters Imogene Norman, Iona Adams and Ina Delp all of Galax, Virginia; four grandchildren Jana Herron (Greg); Kara McConville, Adam Hawks (Caitlin); Andrew Hawks (Sarah); seven great-grandchildren Marli; Lendi; Mason; Oliver; Ainsely; Brody; Anna Jayne; several nieces and nephews; special family friend Anna Catron.

A graveside service will be held Friday at 2:00 PM in Felts Memorial Cemetery with Minister Kent Allender officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
