Ila Faye Rutherford Higgins age 87 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 in the Golden Living Center.
Mrs. Higgins was born on April 26, 1924 in Grayson County, Virginia to Eather and Ella Galyean. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas L. Rutherford; daughter Linda Richardson and brother Thurman Galyean.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Bonnie and Gary Brock of Lexington, Kentucky; Kathy and Larry Murphy of Kingsport, Tennessee; brothers and sisters-in-law F.C. and Bonnie Galyean of Galax, Virginia; Roger and Diane Galyean of Floral City, Florida; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 24, 2012 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Elder Herbert Rutherford and Rev. Ted Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olivet Union Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 AM until time for the funeral service at Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home.
