Ila Amelia Hankley, 92, of Galax passed away Friday January 16, 2009, at Waddell Nursing Home. She was born October 9, 1916 in Carroll Countyto Charles Emory & Lessie Marie Smith Crutchfield. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bennie C. Hankley and grand daughter Lynn Bartlett Hackler.

Mrs. Hankley is survived by her daughter Joyce Hankley of Galax, two sons B. C. Hankley Jr. & his wife Garnetta of Galax and Donald W. Hankley of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, four great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service will be held Monday, January 19, 2009 at 11:00 AM in the Vaughan-Guynn Chapel with Dr. Tom Whartenby officating with interment to follow in Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
