Ida Beatrice Sizemore Bowers age 96 of Galax, Virginia passed away Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Galax Health and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Carroll County, Virginia on April 17, 1923 to Nige and Annis Sizemore. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Coy Bowers, son Coy Bowers, Jr. (J.C.), grandson Jeremy Andrue Bowers, great-great-granddaughter Lela Grace Cox, sister Virginia Sizemore Frazier, brothers Conley, Frazier, Oacus, Martin, Fayter and Johnny Sizemore.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law Shirley and Carroll Sumner; Joyce and John McKenzie; sons and daughters-in-law Larry Bowers, Dallas and Bonnie Bowers, Harry and Janice Bowers all of Galax, Virginia; sixteen grandchildren and spouses; thirty-one great-grandchildren and spouses; seven great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Margie Sizemore; special niece Connie Hughes; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Calvary Church of Christ with Pastor Johnny Young, Pastor Mike Couch and Speaker Joyce McKenzie officiating. Burial will follow in the Newman Cemetery on the River Hill Road. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from six until eight at the Calvary Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to either the Calvary Church of Christ, 2357 Hebron Road, Galax, Virginia 24333 or to the Mt. Valley Hospice, 1477 Carrollton Pike, Hillsville, Virginia 24343.
