Howard Glenston McDonald age 97 of Fancy Gap, Virginia passed away Thursday, November 14, 2013 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
Mr. McDonald was born on March 28, 1916 in Artenis, Kentucky.
Mr. McDonald was a very versatile person. His work history includes being a member of the Civilian Conservation Corp.; using dynamite to build roads; was a wallpaper hanger and painter; a short order cook; worked on a farm, a grist mill and in a grocery store, did upholstery work; became an A-1 welder during World War II; did maintenance at the Ford Motor Company for twenty-six years (1951-1977); operated big machinery; loved gardening; helped do carpentry work and raised chickens and rabbits. He was driving a car before a driver's license was required.
Mr. McDonald is survived by his wife Virginia McDonald of the home; one daughter; one son; step -daughter and her husband Jeanette and David Miller; one granddaughter Heather Fournier; great-grandchildren Phoenix, Saya and Zander; several nieces and nephews.
Vaughan-Guynn Funeral Home is assisting the McDonald Family with the funeral arrangements at Floral Hills Funeral Home in Covington, Kentucky. The funeral service will be held in Covington, Kentucky with burial in the Floral Hills Cemetery.
