Hobert Marshall Williams, 96, of Galax, Virginia passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 in the Waddell Nursing Home.
He is the last member of a family of 12 children born to George and Lola Williams of Galax. The family consist of 8 sons and 4 daughters. He was preceded in death by his wife Zola Smith Williams.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Roger and Linda Williams of Galax; two grandsons and spouses Rod and Loretta Williams of Winchester, Va.; Nathan and Amanda Williams of Gaithersburg, Md. and one granddaughter and husband Amanda and Joey Beppler of Harrisonburg, Va.; 6 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Hobert worked at the old Fries Cotton Mill and Burlington Mills. Later he was a car salesman for White Chevrolet Sales. Afterwards he had his own used car business. He enjoyed being in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains and especially along the New River. He enjoyed old time music playing both the guitar and banjo. Hobert served in the Army during World War II.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 31,2015 at 2:00 PM in the Mt. Pisgah Church of Christ with Marvin Williams and Rod Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 PM until time for the funeral service at the Mt. Pisgah Church of Christ.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Waddell Nursing Home for their care and support in the last months and also thanks to Blue Ridge Hospice for their help in the final days.
