Herman William Hale age 98 of Galax, Virginia passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 in the Waddell Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mr. Hale was born in Galax, Virginia on May 12, 1921 to Eli and Sally Carico Hale. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elsie Davis Hale; siblings Ila Patton, Flora Ayers, Belva Shaw, Boyd Hale, Gene Hale, Charlie Hale, Harry Dean Hale, Elmer Hale and Bill Hale.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Edwin H. Hale and Teresa E. Ring of Bristol, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and special friend Kathleen McMickle of Galax, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Marvin Williams officiating. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request donations be made to the local hospice house.
